A sheet metal engineering and fabrication company is celebrating after winning the prestigious title of Business of the Year for Sussex at the Southern Business Awards held at The Grand Hotel in Brighton on September 5. This high-status event celebrated the finest in business achievements across the entire south coast and was sponsored by Rolls Royce with a number of national companies and banks sponsoring individual categories. The Awards included the winners of all the regional award categories from Chichester, Lancing, Worthing, Brighton, Eastbourne, Bexhill and Hastings.
Stevens Rowsell were recognized in no fewer than 3 different business categories but secured the much coveted top award of the night during a glitzy ceremony hosted by legendary TV presenter Fred Dinenage
Stevens Rowsell are located on the Churchfields Industrial Estate in Hastings, employ 30 staff within a modern 20,000sq ft factory and offer high tech manufacturing capacity in laser cutting, punching, folding, welding and assembly.
Managing Director, Stuart Small, said:
“This is an incredible achievement for an SME manufacturer in Hastings and fantastic regional recognition for all the hard work and dedication that my team and staff have put into our pursuit for operational excellence and business success. It is especially gratifying to have this Award bestowed on us given the trading difficulties in the manufacturing sector over the past few years and the wide ranging scope of change and improvements we have driven through the business over a short space of time in order to achieve our business aims.”
The business is no stranger to success having picked up the 1066 Investors in Training Award and Best Business of the Year Award earlier this year as well as the Best Practice Lean Manufacturing Business for Sussex in 2010 – awarded by the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) in recognition of their outstanding commitment to business improvements and lean manufacturing.
