Hastings based sub-contract sheet metal engineering company Stevens Rowsell (Precision) Ltd have completed their 1000ft2 factory extension to accommodate the installation of their new Trumpf cnc fully automated 4kw Laser Cutting Cell, which is the largest sub-contract manufacturing facility of its kind in the UK. The laser cell facility incorporates two 8m high material storage towers and a handling system which automatically feeds the flat bed laser allowing sheet metal to be cut without any loading / unloading interruption, without any downtime caused whilst the operator retrieves sheet from a traditional racking store and without having to actually rely on a full time machine operator to be at the machine whilst its running.
The time efficiency of the facility provides a quick indirect payback against lost non productive man hours and handling and significantly improves the company’s laser cutting capacity and turnaround time. This in turn has enabled Stevens Rowsell to offer extremely fast turn round times on laser profiling work enhancing its position as a service driven and customer focussed sub contractor.
