Stevens Rowsell Ltd Awarded Sussex Business of the Year!
A sheet metal engineering and fabrication company is celebrating after winning the prestigious title of Business of the Year for Sussex at the Southern Business Awards held at The Grand Hotel in Brighton on September 5.
This high-status event celebrated the finest in business achievements across the entire south coast and was sponsored by Rolls Royce with a number of national companies and banks sponsoring individual categories. The Awards included the winners of all the regional award categories from Chichester, Lancing, Worthing, Brighton, Eastbourne, Bexhill and Hastings.
Stevens Rowsell were recognized in no fewer than 3 different business categories but secured the much coveted top award of the night during a glitzy ceremony hosted by legendary TV presenter Fred Dinenage
Stevens Rowsell are located on the Churchfields Industrial Estate in Hastings, employ 30 staff within a modern 20,000sq ft factory and offer high tech manufacturing capacity in laser cutting, punching, folding, welding and assembly.

The business is no stranger to success having picked up the 1066 Investors in Training Award and Best Business of the Year Award earlier this year as well as the Best Practice Lean Manufacturing Business for Sussex in 2010 – awarded by the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) in recognition of their outstanding commitment to business improvements and lean manufacturing.
Stevens Rowsell Put Pedal To The Metal
Customers, suppliers and staff from Stevens Rowsell recently battled it out on the high speed go-karting track of Team Sports raceway in Crawley.
With karts reaching top speeds of 40mph around an 800 metre track that traverses three floors, the friendly air of hospitality and good natured fun and endeavour quickly gave way to highly competitive and keenly fought racing.
The overall winner of the Grand Prix event was speedy Wayne Turner of Constables Mobility whose stock car racing experience and cunning lines of attack saw off all competitors in both the team and solo events. The semi’s and final were hotly contested and the track was often strewn with the aftermath of forced collisions and underhand tactics.

“It was a terrific adrenalin rush and great fun. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and contributed to an enormously successful day. Sitting only a centimetre or two off the ground and driving at 40mph certainly gets you in touch with gravity as does Barry Douch hitting you side on at 38mph!”
