At
Stevens Rowsell we operate Trumpf
Rotational Punch machines.
Punching in terms of making holes
or cutting out pieces of sheet
metal is done by a process known
as shearing. Shearing is the result
of placing a sheet between an
upper tool (punch) and a lower
tool (die). As the sheet is moved
around the machine table the upper
tool punches through it producing
a hole with the same shape as
the geometric contour of the punch
tool.
The
positioning, movement and processing
of the sheet is synchronised by
a CNC program written using special
software by an engineer.
Aside from punching openings,
our machines can also be used
for creating contours by a process
called ‘nibbling’ or
can be used to create special
shapes by a process called ‘forming’.
 Our machines are capable of punching
varying material types in sheet
widths of up to 1300mm. We typically
specialise in processing the following;
 Up to
3mm mild steel
Up
to 2mm stainless steel
Up
to 6mm aluminium
